Wildfires Rage in Southern United States Amid Evacuation Calls

Oklahoma City: Wildfires have been raging across southern states amid calls upon the residents to evacuate to safer regions.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the US meteorological authorities indicated that dry and stormy weather ignited the blazes in the center, north, and west of Oklahoma and Texas, with forecasts of gales reaching 130 km/h blowing from the Canadian borders to Texas.

The woods authority in Texas stated that the authorities have managed to contain 50 percent of the fire in Windmill and Roberts districts, after the flames spread across wide swaths of land. The media reported that three people perished in accidents related to the fire in Texas, while the storm in Missouri and Illinois inflicted wide-scale damage.

Several accidents were also reported in northwestern Texas amid low visibility and dusty conditions.
