White House: Minor Electrical Issue Forces Trump’s Plane to Return, Switch Aircraft

Davos: The White House: A "minor" electrical malfunction prompted US President Donald Trump's aircraft to return to Maryland shortly after takeoff en route to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

According to Kuwait News Agency, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the flight crew detected a minor electrical issue, necessitating the return to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland to switch planes. President Trump is set to continue his journey to the Davos forum on an alternate aircraft.

President Trump earlier mentioned to reporters his intention to hold "many meetings" at Davos in the coming days, focusing on the Greenland issue and other national priorities. The Davos forum, which concludes on Friday, is occurring amidst increased geopolitical and geoeconomic tensions. These tensions have been heightened by Trump's threat of imposing new tariffs on eight European countries, pending an agreement on annexing Greenland, and his recent warning of additional duties on certain French products.
