Weqaa Center’s Laboratories Secure ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation

Riyadh: The laboratories of the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plants Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa) have received international accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025 from the Saudi Accreditation Center. This achievement marks the culmination of a comprehensive institutional development effort aimed at enhancing laboratory quality, strengthening technical and operational readiness across all regions, supporting public health, and achieving international recognition of laboratory testing.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the center's accreditation journey began with the implementation of a unified quality management system across all laboratories. This system standardized procedures and documentation, improved testing efficiency, and reinforced compliance with international best practices to ensure accurate, reliable results and meet accreditation requirements.

The process also included specialized staff training, readiness assessments, internal audits, management reviews, and the resolution of technical observations, which led to successful evaluation by the accreditation body.

The center reaffirmed its commitment to continuously developing laboratory systems, expanding international accreditations, and enhancing technical and operational capabilities. This commitment aims to support prevention and control efforts and strengthen confidence in national laboratory outputs.
