Seoul: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Russia plans to share its advanced space and satellite technology with North Korea in exchange for weapons and other equipment to support Moscow's war efforts in Ukraine. This development was reported by Yonhap News Agency following Blinken's discussions with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul. According to Kuwait News Agency, Blinken expressed concern over this potential collaboration during a joint press conference in Seoul. He highlighted that this exchange of technology between Russia and North Korea poses a significant issue for the US and its allies, including South Korea and Japan. Blinken noted that President Putin might be reconsidering Russia's longstanding policy regarding North Korea's nuclear weapons program, which has become a central focus for the US and its regional partners. In light of the political unrest in South Korea following President Yoon Suk Yeol's failed attempt to impose martial law and his subsequent impeachment, Bli nken reassured that the US maintains its complete confidence in South Korea's democratic resilience. He emphasized Washington's strong support for the Korean people as they strive to uphold their democratic institutions. During his separate meeting with Acting President Choi Sang-mok, Blinken reiterated the US's confidence not only in South Korea's democratic resilience but also in Choi's leadership. Blinken praised the progress made through trilateral cooperation between South Korea, the US, and Japan, which was notably strengthened at the Camp David summit in August 2023. This summit included South Korean President Yoon, US President Joe Biden, and then Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Blinken expressed the US's hope that the achievements from this cooperation will continue to grow. In response, Choi conveyed gratitude for the US's steadfast support and trust in South Korea's democracy and alliance. He remarked that Blinken's visit underscores the enduring strength of the South Korea-US alliance.
