US Senate Rejects Resolutions to Block Weapons Sale to Israeli Occupation.

Washington: The US Senate voted against resolutions blocking the sale of offensive arms to the Israeli occupation, despite its continuous aggression and actions in the Gaza Strip. The Senate, with a majority of more than two-thirds of its members, voted against the three resolutions proposed by independent Senator Bernie Sanders, who is known for his stance against the ongoing conflict in Gaza. According to Kuwait News Agency, during the session discussing the resolutions, Sanders urged the US government to adhere to the law, citing the Foreign Assistance Act and the Arms Export Control Act. He emphasized that these laws clearly prohibit the United States from providing weapons to countries that violate internationally recognized human rights or obstruct U.S. humanitarian aid. Sanders also highlighted that the resolutions have strong backing from more than 100 civil society groups, and referenced a poll commissioned by J Street, which revealed that 62 percent of Jewish Americans support withholding weapons shipments to Israel until its Prime Minister Netanyahu agrees to an immediate ceasefire.
