Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed with visiting Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani opportunities to deepen cooperation on shared economic and security goals.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the State Department's Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that the Secretary and the Prime Minister reaffirmed during their meeting the strategic partnership between the United States and Qatar. The discussions highlighted the commitment of both nations to enhance their cooperation in various sectors.
The US top diplomat expressed appreciation for Qatar's role in supporting American objectives in the Middle East, Africa, and the Western Hemisphere. Both leaders emphasized their desire for close collaboration on shared goals, which include enhancing economic ties and security cooperation in the region.
Later in the meeting, Secretary Rubio announced the launch of the seventh US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue in Washington, D.C. This dialogue aims to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and explore new areas of partnership.
