US Secretary of State Calls for End to Foreign Support for Sudan’s RSF and Prioritizes Drug War

Hamilton: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has urged an immediate cessation of foreign support for Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF), condemning the group's actions against civilians and highlighting the escalating humanitarian crisis. Speaking at Hamilton Airport in Canada after the G7 foreign ministers' meetings, Rubio underscored the critical need to halt external military aid to the RSF.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Rubio criticized the RSF for its acts of sexual violence and other atrocities. He accused the group of agreeing to a US-backed ceasefire without genuine intent to adhere to it. Rubio's statements reflect growing international concern over the RSF's activities and their impact on Sudan's stability.

On a separate front, Rubio stressed the importance of combating drug cartels in the Caribbean as a key national security priority for the United States. He affirmed the ongoing efforts to continue President Donald Trump's campaign against narcotics smuggling, framing it as an attack by organized criminal gangs. In response to European criticism regarding potential breaches of international law, Rubio asserted that the determination of international law does not rest with the European Union and reaffirmed the US's right to defend its national security. He noted that American forces in the Caribbean are primarily engaged in intelligence gathering as part of their counter-narcotics operations.

Rubio reiterated President Trump's commitment to safeguarding US national interests and security from the threats posed by drug cartels and transnational criminal organizations, maintaining a firm stance on the administration's strategy in the region.
