US Envoy Engages Lebanese Leaders on Economic Reforms

Beirut: US Deputy Special Envoy to the Middle East Morgan Ortagus held discussions with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, focusing on financial and economic reform initiatives.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Ortagus commended the Lebanese government's reform agenda, highlighting the draft law aimed at restructuring the banking sector. The discussions also addressed the implementation of resolution 1701, which involves the cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territories.

The talks further covered the Lebanese-Syrian border, with both parties emphasizing the importance of maintaining control to avert tensions. Ortagus also engaged with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, who reported that 18 reform laws have been finalized.

Additionally, Ortagus met with Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal to discuss the broader situation in Lebanon and the region.
