The US Central Command announced the engagement with 5 drones over the Red Sea and successfully destroyed them, after they posed a threat to the coalition and commercial ships.

The Command said in a statement: ‘Between 1:48 and 2:27 a.m. (Sanaa time) on April 28, the US Central Command successfully engaged with five drones over the Red Sea.’

It added: “It was determined that these drones represent an imminent threat to the United States, the coalition, and commercial ships in the region.”

In the statement, the command described taking this measure ‘to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer for American, coalition, and commercial ships.’

The Central Command did not mention any party that might have launched these drones.
