UN Security Council Reaffirms Support for Yemen Peace Efforts

New york: Members of the United Nations Security Council reaffirmed support for the efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and their commitment to achieving lasting peace and prosperity for the Yemeni people.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Council members issued a press statement expressing strong backing for efforts toward a political settlement. They urged de-escalation and intensified diplomatic engagement by all parties and regional actors.

The statement reiterated the members' firm commitment to Yemen's unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. They also expressed their support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government.

The members strongly condemned the continued detentions by the Houthis of UN, NGO, civil society, and diplomatic staff. They demanded their immediate and unconditional release and emphasized that threats against humanitarian workers are unacceptable.
