Tripoli: The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Wednesday expressed profound sorrow over a tragic aircraft crash that claimed the lives of Libyan Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Al-Haddad and his companions.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the mission also mourned the loss of Chief of the Staff of the Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Al-Futuri Ghribil, and member of the Joint Military Commission 5+5, Brigadier Mahmoud Al-Qatiwi, along with Mohammad Diab and Mohammad Mahjoub. UNSMIL recalled with appreciation the dedicated service of Al-Haddad and his colleagues, noting that during his tenure he advocated for the unification of Libya's military and civilian institutions, supported peace and stability, and consistently prioritized national interest.
The mission extended condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, their colleagues, the Joint Military Commission 5+5, and the Libyan people, expressing solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy during difficult times.
For his part, European Union Ambassador to Libya Nicola Orlando expressed deep sadness over the incident, offering sincere condolences and solidarity with the victims' families, Libya, its armed forces, and all those affected.
