New york: UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is alarmed by the new evacuation orders in northern Gaza, which have once again displaced tens of thousands of people, said a UN official late Monday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, in a press briefing, Stephane Dujarric stated that Guterres "condemns the continued loss of civilian life resulting from Israeli airstrikes and any other attacks." He emphasized that "all parties must comply fully with international law at all times," and highlighted that "civilians must be respected and protected." The Secretary-General also stressed the necessity for "full, safe and sustained humanitarian access in accordance with the humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence." He urged for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and welcomed ongoing mediation efforts, reiterating his call for an urgent permanent ceasefire.
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that the Israeli occupation army had issued forced eviction orders last Sunday from areas in northern Gaza. OCHA also disclosed that approximately 150,000 people were living in the areas affected by the eviction orders.
