Geneva: UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk expressed significant concern over the United States' decision to impose sanctions on judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The sanctions specifically target four female judges from Benin, Peru, Slovenia, and Uganda, who have been involved in decisions related to cases concerning Afghanistan and the State of Palestine.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Turk emphasized in a statement from Geneva that such actions undermine the rule of law and the principle of equal protection, values historically upheld by the United States. He described the sanctions as counterproductive to good governance and the proper administration of justice, urging the U.S. to reconsider and withdraw these measures promptly.
