London: The inflation rate in the UK, measured by the consumer price index, decreased to 2.5 percent in December, down from 2.6 percent in November, as revealed by official data on Wednesday. According to Kuwait News Agency, the British Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported that this decline was primarily due to a 0.6 percent decrease in hotel and restaurant prices, along with a 0.9 percent reduction in clothing prices. The report also noted that prices for household services, including energy, increased by 0.2 percent on a monthly basis, while transportation prices saw a rise of 0.5 percent. The Bank of England maintains that a 2 percent inflation rate is ideal for fostering economic growth without negatively impacting the incomes of British families.
