UK Deploys RAF Jets to Middle East Amid Israel-Iran Tensions

LONDON: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced Saturday the deployment of additional RAF jets to the Middle East in response to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the military aircraft, including Typhoons and air-to-air refuelers, are being dispatched to provide "contingency support across the region." Starmer emphasized the rapidly changing situation and highlighted ongoing discussions with international allies, stressing the importance of de-escalation. This move follows a similar deployment last year, aimed at preventing further escalation in the region.

Starmer made these comments en route to the G7 summit in Canada, where he noted that the weekend's developments would be a focal point of discussion. "We've already been moving assets to the region, including jets, and that is for contingency support across the region," he told reporters, reiterating the UK's commitment to promoting de-escalation through continued dialogue and strategic positioning.
