Abu dhabi: The latest round of UAE mediation efforts has successfully resulted in Russia and Ukraine exchanging some 84 prisoners of war (POWs) each, the foreign ministry said on Thursday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, this brings the total of prisoners to have been swapped between Moscow and Kyiv under UAE-mediated exchanges to some 4,349. A ministry statement expressed gratitude towards Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation in efforts aimed at resolving the conflict.
Abu Dhabi's mediation efforts have yielded a total of 16 prisoner swap deals between Moscow and Kyiv since the start of the conflict. The success of these efforts is attributed to the UAE's solid ties with the two countries.
