Abu dhabi: The UAE has reaffirmed its full solidarity with Kuwait, particularly in safeguarding its sovereignty over maritime areas. The UAE's stance comes amidst concerns over potential challenges to Kuwait's maritime rights and interests.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the UAE Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern regarding the list of coordinates and map submitted by Iraq to the United Nations, which could impact Kuwait's maritime claims, including the areas of Fisht Al-Eid and Fisht Al-Eij. The ministry stressed the importance of Iraq considering the longstanding fraternal ties between the two nations.
The UAE Foreign Ministry urged that this issue be resolved with responsibility and seriousness, adhering to international law principles and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982 (UNCLOS). It emphasized the need for solutions through dialogue and diplomatic means to bolster regional security and stability.
