U.S., Argentina, and Brazil Pursue Enhanced Trade and Investment Relations

Washington: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held separate talks with his Argentine and Brazilian counterparts to explore avenues for promoting trade and investment relations between their countries.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Secretary Rubio met with Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs Pablo Quirno to congratulate him on his recent appointment and to reaffirm the United States' commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship. Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott announced in a press statement that Rubio commended Argentine President Javier Milei for advancing regional stability and welcomed Argentina's efforts to implement reforms after the midterm elections.

During their meeting, Secretary Rubio and Minister Quirno discussed expanding cooperation in areas such as economic growth, technology, energy resources, illegal immigration, and security. Secretary Rubio expressed support for Argentina's commitment to fostering long-term investment opportunities by enhancing infrastructure, advancing regulatory reforms, and addressing security concerns. Both parties agreed to maintain close coordination on immigration issues and work toward resolving outstanding matters concerning U.S. business interests in Argentina.

In a separate meeting, Secretary Rubio discussed trade relations with Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira. The discussions followed the G7 Ministerial in Canada and U.S. President Donald Trump's meeting with Brazilian President Lula da Silva during the ASEAN Leaders' Summit in Kuala Lumpur. Secretary Rubio and Minister Vieira explored a reciprocal framework to strengthen the U.S.-Brazil trade relationship.
