U.S. and Peru Discuss Strategies to Combat Transnational Crime

Lima: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Foreign Minister Hugo de Zela of Peru convened on Friday to deliberate on strategies to combat transnational criminal organizations and enhance security measures.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Secretary Rubio reiterated the United States' dedication to collaborating with Peru to secure critical mineral supply chains. The U.S. State Department released a statement emphasizing the commitment to fortifying trade, space, and security partnerships as both nations approach the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.

In a post on the X platform, Rubio highlighted the meeting's focus on disrupting criminal organizations in the region, boosting cooperation on critical minerals, and reinforcing security collaboration.
