nabatieh: An Israeli airstrike on a home in the Al-Salhiya district of Nabatieh city, south Lebanon, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and wounded several others on Saturday, raising the overall death toll from recent hostilities to 2,968. According to Kuwait News Agency, numerous airstrikes have also been launched across various regions in Lebanon, including the towns of Kherbet Balat, Kounine, Ainata, Tiri, Bint Jbeil, Houmin El-Tahta, and Kfar Fila. The Lebanese Minister of Health, Dr. Nasser Yassin, announced that the death toll from Israeli airstrikes has reached 2,968, with 13,319 reported injuries since the escalation began on October 8, 2023. In a statement, Dr. Yassin detailed that the recent figures encompass 71 deaths and 169 injuries from 100 airstrikes conducted in the past 24 hours alone. He also serves as the coordinator of the government emergency committee, which is managing the crisis response. Dr. Yassin further highlighted that the number of internally displaced individuals has surpassed 190,083, with 1,133 shelters being utilized in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and other areas across the country. Of these shelters, 957 have reached maximum capacity, indicating severe strain on resources. Additionally, the crisis has prompted the displacement of 361,300 Syrians and 177,864 Lebanese citizens, who have fled into Syria since the commencement of the Israeli ground offensive in southern Lebanon on September 23.
