Ankara: Turkiye is considering the establishment of training bases aimed at enhancing the capacity of the Syrian army, as per the Turkish Defense Ministry's announcement on Thursday. This initiative aligns with the demands of the newly formed Syrian government.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Turkish Defense Ministry revealed that during a ministerial-level meeting held on March 9 in Jordan, involving Turkiye, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, there was a consensus on establishing a joint operation center. The aim is to provide support to Syria's fight against terrorism, particularly against the IS terrorist organization. The development of this joint operation center is currently in progress.
Sources from the Ministry emphasized the importance of preserving Syria's territorial integrity, establishing state authority by the new Syrian government across the country, and ensuring stability and security. These aspects are deemed crucial for Turkiye's interests.
Additionally, the Ministry asserted that all activities undertaken in Syria are coordinated with relevant parties and necessary security measures are implemented to maintain safety and order.
