Turkish President Condemns Israeli Occupation of Syrian Territories

Istanbul: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan denounced the Israeli occupation and aggression in Syrian territories as totally unacceptable. During a meeting with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa at the Dolmabahce Presidential Palace in Istanbul, Erdogan vowed that Ankara would "continue to oppose these actions on every platform." The leaders discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and global developments.

According to Kuwait News Agency, President Erdogan expressed optimism for a brighter and more peaceful future for Syria. He reaffirmed Turkiye's commitment to supporting Syria and welcomed the recent US and EU decisions to lift sanctions on the country. Erdogan highlighted the importance of preserving Syria's territorial integrity and ensuring unified governance from a central authority.

Erdogan emphasized that cooperation between Turkiye and Syria will continue to develop across various sectors, particularly in energy, defense, and transportation. He assured that Turkiye would maintain its commitment to neighborly and brotherly relations with Syria. President Al-Sharaa expressed gratitude for Erdogan's support and efforts in the process of lifting the sanctions.

The meeting was attended by Turkiye's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler, Head of National Intelligence Organisation Ibrahim Kalin, President of the Defence Industry Agency Haluk Gorgun, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Cagatay Kilic, and Chief Advisor to the President Sefer Turan.
