Kuwait city: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed on Sunday that his country has taken a significant step toward eliminating terrorism from its national agenda and from the region as a whole through the "Terror-Free Turkiye" initiative.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Erdogan made the remarks during a phone call with UAE President Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed, stressing the importance of the "strategic partnership" between Turkiye and Abu Dhabi, which has yielded positive results across various fields.
The statement noted that Erdogan praised the vast potential both countries possess, particularly in the defense industries and emerging technologies sectors. On the regional front, the presidency said Erdogan affirmed that Ankara is closely following the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which began in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. He reiterated Turkiye's continued support for efforts aimed at ensuring peace in the Caucasus.
Similarly, the UAE News Agency (WAM) reported that the Emirati and Turkish presidents reaffirmed during the call their countries' commitment to supporting efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving regional peace and stability, ultimately contributing to prosperity for all peoples of the region. They emphasized the importance of cooperation and joint action to find solutions to regional crises through dialogue and diplomatic means, as the only path to achieving peace and stability in the region.
The two leaders also discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and joint action across various fields that promote development and progress in both countries. They underlined the importance of advancing their mutual interests within the framework of the close relations and comprehensive economic partnership between them.
