Trump Nominates Kevin Warsh to Succeed Jerome Powell as Federal Reserve Chief

Washington: US President Donald Trump has officially nominated Kevin Warsh to replace Jerome Powell as the chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, following the conclusion of Powell's term in May.

According to Kuwait News Agency, President Trump expressed confidence in Warsh's abilities, stating on his Truth Social platform that Warsh could become one of the greatest Fed Chairmen. Trump highlighted Warsh's extensive credentials, including his roles as the Shepard Family Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Economics at the Hoover Institution and Lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Trump noted Warsh's partnership with Stanley Druckenmiller at Duquesne Family Office LLC, his academic background from Stanford University and Harvard Law School, and his historic appointment as the youngest Fed Governor at age 35. Warsh served as a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 2006 until 2011 and held various significant positions during his tenure.

The nomination comes at a time of notable institutional challenges for the Federal Reserve, which is dealing with a Justice Department criminal probe into Powell, Supreme Court deliberations on the Fed's independence, and the ongoing issue of living costs. If confirmed by the Senate, Warsh will play a pivotal role in shaping US monetary policy and addressing inflation concerns.
