London: US President Donald Trump commenced a state visit to the UK on Wednesday where he was welcomed to Windsor Castle by King Charles III and the royal family, amid a lavish ceremony and a cacophony of military bands.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the royal occasion was marked by much pomp and splendor, as the US president and First Lady Melania Trump were treated to a carriage ride alongside King Charles III and Queen Camilla, before having lunch with senior royals.
Following the banquet, a military fly-past of British and American stealth jets is planned to create an aerial spectacle. The UK has stated that this will be the grandest military welcome for a visiting head of state in history, preceding talks Trump will hold with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday.
Trump will also be meeting with a bevy of British business groups following the recent transatlantic tech agreement worth USD 42 billion, sealed by Washington and London in a bid to boost bilateral ties.
