Washington: US President Donald Trump announced that Venezuela's interim authorities agreed to deliver between 30 and 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the United States. Trump made this announcement on his social media platform Truth Social, stating that the oil will be sold at market price with the proceeds managed by him to benefit both Venezuelan and American people.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump noted that he has instructed Venezuelan Energy Minister Chris Wright to implement the plan immediately. The agreement includes delivery via storage tankers directly to US discharge ports. This development follows a military operation that led to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, after which Trump declared that the United States would oversee Venezuela's affairs until a fair transition of power is established.
Trump also mentioned that the US administration is ready to support American oil companies in rebuilding Venezuela's energy infrastructure, estimating that the process could be completed in less than 18 months.
