Today’s Newspapers Follow PM’s Regional Tour And The Media Project To Enhance Participation In The Elections

Baghdad, Newspapers issued in Baghdad today, Monday, November 6, followed Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani’s regional tour, the media project to enhance participation in the elections, and other issues.

Al-Zawraa newspaper, which is published by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, followed Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani’s regional tour, which begins today, Monday, on the developments of events in Gaza.

It quoted government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi as saying: “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani’s tour, which is scheduled to begin today, Monday, with a visit to Tehran, aims to reach a common understanding to stop the aggression against Gaza, stop the expansion of the war, contain it and prevent its spread, and activate urgent truce proposals.”

Al-Awadi added: “The visit also aims to support efforts to provide and send urgent humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, and to prepare the ground for understandings that push towards pushing UN and international organizations to activate their international and legal obligations towards the Palestinian issue and provide protection for the Palestinian people.”

The spokesman explained: “The schedule for visiting Gulf capitals will move according to the speed of arranging appointments. Therefore, it is not possible to mention the name of a specific country because it may be preceded by the name of another country.”

Al-Zawraa indicated that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed, during his meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, the need for the international community to bear its responsibility regarding the massacres being committed in Gaza, and his renewal of Iraq’s clear and principled position of rejecting the Zionist aggression against Gaza, and the necessity of an immediate ceasefire.

As for Al-Sabah newspaper, which is published by the Iraqi Media Network, it discussed the adoption by the Presidency of the Republic of a media project to enhance the participation rate in the provincial council elections.

The Presidential Advisor for Election Affairs, Karim Al-Tamimi, explained in an interview with Al-Sabah: “The media is very important in enhancing the participation rate in the electoral process,” pointing to the agreement with the media channels to launch a workshop on the necessity of adopting a media project to enhance the participation rate in the elections.

He added: “Marketing the electoral process is one of the tasks of the media and is not limited to the Independent High Electoral Commission in the campaigns it carries out only,” indicating: “Next week will witness an expanded meeting with satellite channels to develop an integrated program to support the Electoral Commission to launch a media campaign aimed at raising the participation rate in the governorate council elections that will be held on the eighteenth of next December.”

Al-Tamimi continued: “There are meetings with minorities and representatives of the indigenous components of society, to give a message of reassurance and interest to this segment to ensure their participation in the elections, and to elect their representatives in a real way.”

While the newspaper quoted legal expert Saad Al-Bukhati: “The Independent High Electoral Commission has set conditions and mechanisms and issued instructions in order to respect the electoral and organizational situation,” pointing to the necessity of strengthening the culture of legitimate competition.

In another matter, Al-Zaman newspaper followed the launch of the Baghdad Municipality, the first phase of implementing the new Sadr City project, indicating that it will include 60,000 housing units.

It referred to what the Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa, said during a press conference: “Baghdad Municipality signed the consulting contract with an international consulting body to prepare detailed designs for the infrastructure and implement the project, in cooperation with an auditing consulting body to review the designs.”

He added: “The Baghdad Municipality announced the pre-qualification document for the relevant local and international companies, for the purpose of expressing their desire to implement the city’s infrastructure project, after the consulting body completed the first phase of the designs, under the supervision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.”

Musa explained: “This city is very important in terms of its geographical location and accommodating the population pressure in Baghdad,” pointing out the adoption of new standards in preparing designs to create cities that are compatible with the social nature and their interconnection with neighboring cities.

He added: “The infrastructure of the new Sadr City will be implemented with government funding, and will attract local and international companies with high technical capabilities and competence,” noting that after completing the executive designs and documents for the construction of a thousand housing units and their infrastructure, the referral of the implementation of a thousand housing units will begin in conjunction with the consultant’s completion of the studies submitted, the third phase will begin with the implementation of 10,000 housing units.”
