Makassar: Three people died and at least five others were injured following an arson attack on a local parliamentary building in Makassar, the provincial capital of southern Sulawesi, Indonesia. The incident was announced by Indonesian authorities on Saturday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Indonesian catastrophes department reported that the fire began late on Friday, trapping victims inside the building. In a desperate attempt to escape the flames, two individuals sustained injuries by jumping from the building.
In related incidents, protestors set multiple police stations ablaze in Surabaya, and numerous activists staged protests in front of police stations in other towns. The demonstrations are driven by grievances over low wages and unemployment.
