The Minister of the Interior inaugurates the border Cameras Monitoring Center

The Minister of Interior, Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, inaugurated today, Monday, the border Cameras Monitoring Center, at the headquarters of the Border Forces Command in the capital, Baghdad.

The media office of the Minister of Interior stated in a statement, “the Minister held a meeting at the Command headquarters, and listened to a briefing from the leaders of the regions at the borders, and the work that the surveillance camera system will do.”

The Minister of the Interior stressed “the need to fully protect the borders, prevent smuggling and infiltration, and follow up and arrest drug traffickers.”

He pointed out that “Iraqi border security is an important factor in the country’s security stability process, as well as supporting the Iraqi economy, directed by intensifying efforts to build border outposts in an exemplary manner.”

The Minister of the Interior “conducted a tour of the joints of the Border Forces Command, and was briefed on the progress of the leadership’s work and the most important duties and tasks that it performs.”

It is hoped that these cameras will cover all international borders from northern to southern Iraq.
