The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate branch in Diwaniyah denounced the fact that a force from the Popular Mobilization Intelligence stormed the headquarters of the Syndicate branch, which is under rehabilitation in the province.
The Head of the branch, Ahmed Al-Shaibani, said in a statement: “The press family in Diwaniyah governorate was surprised by the storming of the headquarters of the Syndicate branch and taking control of it by force of arms from an armed faction without prior warning.”
Al-Shaibani added: “He came early in the morning and tried to explain to the force that the way in which the headquarters was stormed was incorrect and contrary to the law and freedoms, but its response was negative and with unjustified stubbornness, despite the conversation was transparent.”
The Syndicate branch expressed its rejection and denunciation of the method followed by the Popular Mobilization Intelligence in Diwaniyah, which represents an assault on law, order and press freedoms in a horrific way, and an armed force carrying types of heavy and light weapons surprisingly. This prompted the press family to organize an immediate condemnation that forced the force to withdraw and handing over the headquarters to the local police after the intervention of the Minister of Interior and the Governor of Diwaniyah.
The branch noted that it will take legal means and a lawsuit will be filed against the force that stormed the headquarters and the leaders who instructed them to carry out the armed raid.
The Syndicate branch called on the leaders of the Popular Mobilization to immediately apologize for what happened from the Popular Mobilization intelligence, which we are certain did not move without the knowledge of the Popular Mobilization leaders! .
The branch of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate indicated that it had occupied the headquarters and rehabilitated it for an amount of 70 million dinars.
The branch drew the attention of the Iraqi public opinion to the fact that the security situation is stable in Diwaniyah, and what happened is unacceptable, disturbs the peace of security, and raises terror and panic among the safe ranks of the people, especially in the area where the headquarters of the Syndicate branch is located.
