The General Federation of Arab Journalists appealed to the warring parties in Sudan not to target civilian buildings and offices in which journalists work in Khartoum, indicating that media offices affiliated with one of the Sudanese press agencies was targeted.

In today’s statement, the federation appealed to all warring parties to work to protect Sudanese journalists, calling for taking all necessary measures for their safety and protection.

The federation expressed its deep concern about the difficult conditions under which Sudanese journalists are working to cover the current events in Sudan.

For its part, the General Union of Sudanese Journalists indicated that the situation has become more dangerous for journalists in the vicinity of the General Command and the Republican Palace, which is witnessing fierce battles, and demanded that pictures of the victims, prisoners and wounded not be published, as they contradict professional norms and international laws, as well as fueling the conflict.

It explained that media institutions located in the vicinity of the areas of clashes were bombed, although the media institutions are civilian entities and it is forbidden to target them during armed conflicts, at a time when international law prohibits not targeting civilians in conflict areas.
