Thailand Elects Anutin Charnvirakul as New Prime Minister

Kuwait city: The Thai parliament on Friday elected Anutin Charnvirakul as the new prime minister, marking him as the 32nd head of the government and the fourth premier in two years.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Charnvirakul, representing the Bhumjaithai Party, secured 311 votes, while his opponent from the Pheu Thai Party, Chaikasem Nitisiri, received 152 votes. Additionally, 21 deputies abstained from the voting process, out of a total of 500 seats in the assembly.

Parliament Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, also known as Wan Noor, announced that he would submit the election results to King Maha Vajiralongkorn for endorsement. This step is necessary before the formation of the new cabinet.

The newly elected premier, aged 58, expressed his commitment to addressing the nation's challenges, stating his determination to work diligently following the announcement of the election results.
