Alexandria: The UIPM 2025 Tetrathlon U15 World Championships began in Alexandria with 350 athletes from 26 countries, including Kuwait, taking part in the event. The championships, running until August 17, are being hosted by Egypt in collaboration with the International Modern Pentathlon Federation (UIPM). Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, addressed the participants at the opening ceremony. According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi highlighted Egypt's strategic initiative announced in 2018 to establish itself as a hub for international sports events. He emphasized that Egypt's robust infrastructure and logistical prowess have earned the trust of global sports federations. The opening day was marked by a significant achievement for the host nation, as Egyptian athletes Mahmoud and Nour Ramadan clinched the gold medal in the youth relay race. The championships also feature participation from the Kuwait Modern Pentathlon Federation (KMPF), competing in both team and individu al events. The Tetrathlon, a modified form of the Modern Pentathlon, comprises four disciplines: shooting, swimming, running, and riding. This event excludes the fencing phase found in the traditional pentathlon format.
