Tajikistan: Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon expressed his admiration for the growing relationship between his country and Kuwait, emphasizing the "multi-faceted" nature of their ties. According to Kuwait News Agency, President Rahmon, in an interview with Dr. Fatma Al-Salem, discussed the potential for collaboration in areas such as healthcare, tourism, energy, and agriculture. He noted that these sectors hold significant potential for mutual benefit. As the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and Tajikistan approaches next year, he anticipates an occasion for fostering broader cooperation, underscoring the support both countries provide each other on the international stage. President Rahmon affirmed Tajikistan's readiness to use all available resources to strengthen ties with Kuwait, emphasizing the importance of enhancing trade and economic cooperation. He highlighted Tajikistan's economic growth, averaging over 7 percent annually in the past decade, and acknowledged the Kuwait-based Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development's investments exceeding USD 85 million in Tajikistan since 2001. Tajikistan is collaborating with Kuwait to advance its financial and banking sectors through initiatives like green bonds and a national digital drive. Recent legislation aims to attract foreign investors with streamlined procedures. On international efforts, President Rahmon emphasized Tajikistan's leadership in water and climate initiatives, stressing the importance of water in human development. He called for rationalizing water resources through international cooperation and highlighted Tajikistan's significant contributions to global water and climate agendas. Tajikistan has championed international initiatives like the International Year of Clean Water 2003 and the International Decade for Action: Water for Sustainable Development (2018-2028). President Rahmon expressed hope for Kuwaiti experts' involvement in addressing these global challenges and participation in the upcoming Dushanbe conference. Addressing global terrorism and tensions, President Rahmon reiterated the shared interests of Tajikistan and Kuwait in combating terrorism and extremism. He aims to discuss expanding cooperation in this area during his visit to Kuwait. He also commented on the complex political and security situation in regions like the Middle East, particularly the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, condemning violence against civilians and advocating for diplomatic solutions and adherence to UN resolutions, including establishing an independent Palestinian state.
