Damascus: Syria's President Ahmad al-Sharaa emphasized Friday that Kurds are an integral part of the Syrian people and his government is committed to defending their rights. This statement was made during a phone call with the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani.
According to Kuwait News Agency, during the call, they reviewed the recent developments in Syria and the region, highlighting the importance of strengthening stability and fostering cooperation. President al-Sharaa reaffirmed the government's commitment to guaranteeing Kurds' national, political, and civil rights equally with all other components of Syrian society. Barzani welcomed this position and expressed support for Syrians' efforts to build an inclusive state for all its citizens.
The two leaders also agreed on the need for continued coordination and consultation to advance shared interests and promote civil peace.
