Al-ula: Syria's Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Hind Kabawat, expressed gratitude for Kuwait's unwavering support for Syria, emphasizing the enduring bilateral relations between the two countries. She highlighted Kuwait's consistent backing during various challenging periods, notably during the Syrian civil war.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Kuwaiti support for Syria has been ongoing for 14 years, predominantly in the form of humanitarian aid. This support was crucial during the civil war that began in 2011. Minister Kabawat, speaking at the Munich Security Conference leaders' meeting in Al-Ula, praised Kuwait for its timely assistance and commitment to helping Syria achieve its aspirations.
Kuwait has been proactive in aiding Syria, organizing three donors' conferences to provide immediate support during the war. In 2016, Kuwait collaborated with the United Kingdom to host a similar event, reinforcing their commitment to supporting Syria. Most recently, Kuwait participated in a European Union-hosted conference last March, focused on supporting a Syrian-led transition aimed at securing lasting peace and prosperity for its people.
Minister Kabawat acknowledged the substantial aid provided by Kuwait-based funds and charities to Syrian refugees, underscoring the vital role these contributions play in addressing humanitarian needs. The conference agenda addressed a range of critical issues, including global trade, regional crises, energy transitions, nuclear safety, and global cooperation in energy and economics.
