Bern: Swiss Assistant Foreign Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Monika Schmutz praised the State of Kuwait, describing it as "a beacon of progress and stability in the region." This was expressed during a speech delivered by Schmutz at the reception held by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Switzerland on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of independence and the 34th anniversary of Liberation Day.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Schmutz highlighted Kuwait's culture, society, and commitment to peace and development as sources of inspiration not only for its people but also for its global partners. The Swiss official expressed pride in participating in Kuwait's national celebrations and commended the strong bilateral relations between the two nations.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Switzerland Zeyad Al-Mashaan emphasized the historical ties between Kuwait and Switzerland, noting that the two countries will celebrate their sixtieth anniversary of relations next year. He stressed the alignment in their approaches to preventive diplomacy, mediation, and peaceful conflict resolution.
The Ambassador also highlighted the robust economic partnership, marked by the Kuwaiti Sovereign Fund's substantial investments in Switzerland, totaling over USD 15 billion. This investment reflects Kuwait's confidence in the Swiss investment environment, supported by a strong legal system and economic facilities for foreign investors.
The event saw significant participation from officials, diplomats, and notable figures, including Patricia Danzi, Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
