Suez Canal revenue hits record high at $9.4bn

Egypt’s Suez Canal revenues increased by 35% this year, reaching $9.4 billion in the current financial year 2022/2023, compared to $7 billion in the previous year, said the canal’s authority chairman, Osama Rabea.

He attributed the record high to the consistency of services offered by the canal despite global challenges, MENA reported.

Rabea said the development of the southern sector targets increasing traffic in the canal by 17% to meet increasing demand.

The current average of vessels crossing through the Suez Canal is 72 to 77 daily.
