Khartoum: The Sudanese army has announced a significant victory over the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF), stating that they successfully ended the long-standing siege on the General Command HQ in central Khartoum. This development marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing conflict, as the siege had persisted for 21 months.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the successful operation to break the siege was complemented by the army's ability to repel simultaneous attacks by the RSF. These attacks included an offensive from Omdurman city, located to the northwest of Khartoum, as well as an assault on Al-Fasher city, the capital of the western North Darfur State.
The Military Spokesperson, in a statement announcing the victory, referred to the RSF as "the terrorist militia" and emphasized that the army continues its operations by bombarding militia sites in Khartoum Bahri (Khartoum North), Omdurman, and Shambat city. This aggressive stance indicates the army's determination to maintain control and suppress the RSF's influence in the region.
