Al-fasher: Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Sunday they had taken control of the headquarters of the army's Sixth Division in Al-Fasher, the last stronghold of the armed forces in Darfur.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the RSF stated that they "managed to liberate the headquarters of the Sixth Division in El-Fasher, North Darfur, inflicting heavy losses in lives and military equipment on the army and allied militias." This development marks a significant moment in the ongoing conflict, as the city had been besieged by the RSF for the past eighteen months. This siege is considered one of the longest battles since the conflict began in April 2023.
The Sudanese army has not yet issued an official statement clarifying its position on these recent developments, leaving the current status and future implications uncertain as the situation continues to unfold.
