Starmer Lauds Landmark Deal with EU at First UK-EU Summit

London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday praised a freshly crafted deal with the European Union, saying it would provide access to the European markets and strengthen the borders. Starmer, speaking at a news conference after the first British-UK Summit, highlighted the strategic importance of the agreement in stabilizing the economy and enhancing Britain's international business appeal.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Starmer emphasized that the landmark deal marks a new partnership between an independent Britain and its European allies. He described the summit as a pivotal moment in UK-EU relations, noting that the agreement delivers on what the British public voted for last year. Starmer proudly stated that the deal grants the UK unprecedented access to the EU market, surpassing the benefits enjoyed by any other non-EU or non-EFTA country.

The agreement also includes measures to increase cooperation on energy, with the aim of reducing long-term energy bills and boosting the renewables industry in the North Sea. Starmer explained that the deal would enable the UK and the EU to integrate their energy systems, benefiting both bill payers and the renewable sector.

Furthermore, Starmer addressed the pressing issue of illegal migration, explaining that the new agreement would close existing gaps in the previous deal. By enhancing collaboration across migration routes, the UK and the EU aim to tackle the migration crisis and dismantle criminal gangs involved in human trafficking.

In addition, the deal introduces a youth experience scheme, allowing young people to travel and work freely in Europe. Starmer assured that this initiative would include appropriate time-limits, caps, and visa requirements to ensure a balanced and controlled approach.
