Starmer: E3 Partners to Discuss Catastrophic Situation in Gaza

London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza Strip is "unspeakable and indefensible." "While the situation has been grave for some time, it has reached new depths and continues to worsen. We are witnessing a humanitarian catastrophe," a press release from 10 Downing Street quoted the Prime Minister as saying on Thursday.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Prime Minister Starmer announced plans to hold an emergency call with E3 partners, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron, to urgently address the crisis. He emphasized the need to stop the killing and ensure the delivery of much-needed food while working towards a lasting peace.

Starmer stressed the importance of Israel changing its course to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza without delay. He called for all parties to engage in good faith to bring about an immediate ceasefire and urged Hamas to release all hostages unconditionally.

He supported efforts by the US, Qatar, and Egypt to resolve the crisis and reaffirmed the right of the Palestinian people to statehood. Starmer highlighted that a ceasefire would pave the way for the recognition of a Palestinian state and a two-state solution ensuring peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis.
