Kuwait city: Sri Lankan Ambassador Lakshitha Ratnayake expressed his country's appreciation for Kuwait's role, through Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), in providing humanitarian and relief support to those affected by severe floods and cyclone-related destruction impacting over 600,000 families. According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Ratnayake spoke on Tuesday following his meeting with KRCS Chairman Khaled Al-Maqamis. He highlighted the profound consequences the disaster has had on the lives of many affected individuals, creating urgent humanitarian challenges that require swift coordinated responses. The ambassador voiced confidence in Kuwait's humanitarian efforts, which he believes will significantly ease the suffering of impacted families. He emphasized the difficult circumstances currently facing Sri Lanka and underscored the importance of continued support to address evolving needs on the ground. Chairman Al-Maqamis affirmed KRCS's commitment to sustaining its humanitarian role and extendin g assistance to people in need worldwide. He noted that the meeting reviewed avenues of humanitarian cooperation and assessed urgent requirements in Sri Lanka to guide prioritized relief interventions.
