Special Olympics World Winter Games Begin in Italy with Kuwait’s Participation


Turin: The 12th Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 kicks off Saturday in Turin, Italy, running from March 8-15, with Kuwait’s participation among athletes from 100 countries.



According to Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwaiti delegation includes three athletes, Mariam Thiab, who will compete in skating, as well as Hajer Al-Rashidi and Abdullah Al-Ali, who will participate in the snowball rush. These athletes have undergone training camps in the UAE and Egypt under the guidance of coaches Bilal Hammmi and Salma Al-Obaid from Kuwait Special Olympics.



The Special Olympics World Winter Games aim to integrate individuals with intellectual disabilities into society, develop their skills, and foster a competitive atmosphere.
