Spanish Parliament Approves Bill Halting Military Exports to Israeli Occupation

Madrid: The Spanish parliament has taken a significant step by endorsing a decree-into-law that bars military exports to the Israeli occupation, marking the first such move within the European Union.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the bill was passed with the support of 178 deputies, while 169 voted against it. One legislator was absent from the session, which included a total of 348 members. The decree-into-law, approved by the Spanish cabinet two weeks ago, prohibits exports and imports of arms, ammunition, and military hardware between Spain and the Israeli occupation. It also cancels existing permits and prohibits the issuance of new ones. Additionally, the legislation bans the transit of military hardware intended for Tel Aviv through Spanish territory.
