Somalia’s National Military on Tuesday announced 50 militants of the “Khawarij” militant group were killed, including a high-ranking officer.
It was a two-way military operation with the Lower Shabelle province as the battleground.
According to Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the first military operation lead to the elimination of commander Hassan Hayo along with 45 of his troop, while the second resulted in four deaths in the city of Genale.
According to the army, operations are ongoing until all militants are eradicated from the country.
