Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, has affirmed that the International Day of Charity, observed every September 5, is an opportunity to highlight the pioneering Bahraini experience in charity and humanitarian work, internationally and regionally.
He explained that Bahrain’s experience was underpinned by its development and social policies and legislative framework, which are supported by civil society organisations.
This approach is in line with the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, stressing Bahrain’s keenness to consolidate the basis of charity and social work as part of its sustainable development efforts, he said.
Minister Al Asfoor praised the level of progress and development reached by civil society organisations in Bahrain in their development programmes, and their endeavours in serving the Bahraini society.
He said that Bahrain has always been known for its support for charitable and humanitarian work, noting that the ministry continues to support and regulate the work of CSOs out of its belief in the importance of their role in addressing social issues in partnership with the public and private sectors
