The Ministry of Social Affairs announced Wednesday the release of a number of debtors and the settlement of debts of more than 2,700 citizens, with a total value of KD 11.494 million (about USD 37.465.380 million). In a press statement, Acting Undersecretary of the ministry and Chairman of the Debtors' Debt Settlement Committee Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi explained that the funds transferred to the General Administration for the Execution of Judgments at the Ministry of Justice contributed to closing 3,060 files for citizens with debts less than KD 10,000 (about USD 33,000). Al-Ajmi indicated that 25 percent of the files are related to personal status cases, which reflects the challenges faced by these groups and the importance of the debt settlement initiative for debtors in achieving financial and social stability. He pointed out that this came based on the instructions of the Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, who stressed the importance of supporting citizens in fa cing financial debts. Al-Ajmi appreciated the role of major donors in this initiative, led by Kuwait Finance House, which made the largest contribution to the initiative, amounting to KD seven million (about USD 22.8 million). He also appreciated the contributions of cooperative societies, charitable societies, and citizens, reflecting the spirit of solidarity and goodness inherent in Kuwaiti society. He praised the pivotal role of the Head of the General Administration of Implementation at the Ministry of Justice Counselor Abdullah Al-Othman for his constructive cooperation in facilitating procedures, stressing that this fruitful cooperation was a key factor in the success of the initiative. He expressed his gratitude to the members of the committee from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the Union of Charitable Societies and Charities, and the Union of Cooperative Societies.
