Social Affairs Ministry’s (Makshat 3) Project Attracts Over 250,000 Visitors Since Launch

Kuwait City: Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi affirmed today, Monday, that the (Makshat 3) project has successfully attracted more than 250,000 visitors, citizens, residents, and GCC nationals since its launch in November 2024, noting that this turnout reflects its distinction as a leading recreational and tourism destination.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Ajmi mentioned in a statement that (Makshat 3) will suspend visitor reception during the holy month of Ramadan to conduct maintenance and development work in preparation for the next phase. The project is set to reopen on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr with a fresh look and enhanced features to enrich the visitor experience.

He further explained that the project was fully funded by the National Cooperative Projects Committee, supported by exceptional efforts from the Cooperative Societies Union, without imposing financial burdens on the state treasury. This initiative exemplifies a fruitful partnership between the public and private sectors, based on an integrated strategy of effective planning, comprehensive execution, innovative media promotion, and continuous monitoring to improve performance and visitor experience.

Al-Ajmi emphasized that (Makshat 3) has bolstered the national economy by stimulating local spending and invigorating tourism and entertainment-related sectors, which led to increased sales for restaurants, cafes, and shops. Additionally, it created numerous direct and indirect job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth, entrepreneurs, and owners of small and medium enterprises, thereby enhancing the project’s positive economic impact.

He asserted that the project aligns with Kuwait Vision 2035 and the Sustainable Development Goals, providing a comprehensive recreational environment with diverse activities catering to all age groups. The third edition of (Makshat) saw an expansion of its infrastructure, including the increase of restaurants and cafes to over 30, the expansion of the traditional cafe to enhance the heritage experience, and the allocation of 60 family rest areas to ensure visitor comfort. Additional events during official holidays also contributed to attracting more visitors.

Al-Ajmi highlighted that the project adopted cutting-edge technologies for event management by developing an advanced online booking system through its official website and the (EVENTAT) app to streamline entry and organization. Sophisticated tools were also used to monitor performance, measure visitor satisfaction, and analyze data to refine future event planning.

He expressed appreciation for the close cooperation with government entities, including the Ministries of Interior, Information, and Health, and the General Fire Directorate, which provided distinguished services to ensure visitor comfort and safety. This support was pivotal to the project’s success.

Al-Ajmi concluded by affirming that (Makshat 3) stands as a model for transforming ambitious ideas into economic successes, noting its significant financial revenues during its operational period underscore its economic viability. This opens broad prospects for future development to strengthen Kuwait’s position as a prominent regional recreational and tourism destination, contributing to developing recreational infrastructure and harnessing the potential of Kuwaiti youth.
