Small Flamingos Spotted in Kuwait Amid Unusual Summer Sighting

Kuwait city: Kuwaiti photographer Abdul Majeed Al-Shatti on Saturday captured the rare sight of small flamingos in Kuwait during the summer, a phenomenon that indicates milder temperatures for the season.

According to Kuwait News Agency, flamingos are typically large and predominantly of the type known as the great flamingo in Kuwait. However, the recent sighting involves the smaller variant, which is distinguishable by its size and beak color.

As mid-summer approaches, some migratory seabirds, including flamingos, begin their return to Kuwait. Historically, these birds have been seen in small numbers from late July to early August. They typically remain in the country until late March, feeding on the abundant small marine creatures found in Kuwait Bay.
